Seventh house — Astrology glossary
The seventh house begins at the Descendant, opposite the first house, and governs one-to-one relationships: marriage, business partnerships, close alliances, and open rivals. It is an angular house, treated as one of the chart's strong points. Astrologers read planets here as forces a person meets through others rather than alone, describing both what they seek in a partner and the dynamics that recur in their commitments. It matters because it shifts the focus from the individual self of the first house to the give-and-take of partnership. For example, someone with Saturn in the seventh house may take relationships seriously and commit slowly, sometimes feeling burdened by partnership early in life, before building unusually durable bonds once they accept the responsibility that comes with them.
