Composite chart — Astrology glossary
A composite chart is a single chart built from two people's natal charts by taking the mathematical midpoints between their corresponding planets and points. The result is not either person's chart but a symbolic chart of the relationship itself, treated as an entity with its own qualities. It differs from synastry, which compares two charts side by side; the composite merges them into one. In practice, the composite matters because it describes the character and purpose of the partnership as a whole rather than how each person affects the other. For example, a composite chart with the Sun in the seventh house is read as a relationship whose core identity is partnership itself, one that defines both people primarily through their bond rather than through separate, individual aims.
