Dispositor — Astrology glossary
A dispositor is the planet that rules the sign another planet occupies, giving it a say in how that planet operates. If the Moon is in Aries, Mars rules Aries, so Mars is the Moon's dispositor, and the Moon's expression is filtered through the condition and placement of Mars. Astrologers trace these rulership links from planet to planet to see how the chart connects up; following the chain often ends at a planet in its own sign, which disposes of itself and acts as a final dispositor that anchors the whole pattern. This matters because it reveals which planets quietly govern large parts of a chart. For example, if every chain leads back to Saturn, Saturn's strength and sign shape the entire personality more than its single placement would suggest.
