Eclipse — Astrology glossary
An eclipse is a New or Full Moon that falls close enough to the Moon's nodes for the Sun, Earth, and Moon to align, producing a solar or lunar eclipse. In a natal chart, being born near an eclipse is read as heightening the Sun-Moon relationship and tying a person's life to themes of sudden change and significant turning points. It matters because eclipses are treated as far stronger than ordinary lunations, marking endings and beginnings rather than routine cycles. For example, someone born under a solar eclipse may find their identity repeatedly reshaped by events outside their control. Astrologers also track eclipses as forecasting tools, watching which natal points they touch to time major shifts.
