Fixed sign — Astrology glossary
A fixed sign is one of the four zodiac signs belonging to the fixed modality: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. These signs fall in the middle of each season, and the modality is associated with stability, persistence, and the maintenance of what has already begun. Fixed signs are typically described as determined, loyal, and resistant to change, each holding its ground in the manner of its element. Taurus sustains through steadiness, Leo through pride, Scorpio through intensity, and Aquarius through conviction. In a natal chart, strong fixed placement points to a person who builds slowly, commits deeply, and dislikes being pushed off course. For example, someone with several planets in fixed signs tends to see things through long after others would have quit, a strength that becomes stubbornness when the situation has clearly changed and they still refuse to let go.
