Lunar return — Astrology glossary
A lunar return is a chart cast for the moment each month when the Moon comes back to the exact position it occupied at birth. Because the Moon circles the zodiac in about twenty-seven and a third days, a lunar return happens roughly once a month, making it a tool for short-term, monthly forecasting. It is the lunar counterpart to the annual solar return. In relation to the natal chart, it matters as a way to read the emotional tone and practical focus of the weeks ahead, since the Moon governs mood, instinct, and daily rhythm. For example, a lunar return placing the Moon in the home sector is often read as a month when domestic matters, family, or the need for retreat take priority over outward activity.
