Tenth house — Astrology glossary

The tenth house begins at the Midheaven, the top of the chart, and governs career, public reputation, and worldly ambition. As an angular house at the chart's most visible point, it is considered powerful, especially for matters of status and achievement. Astrologers read planets here as strongly tied to a person's public role and how they are judged by society. It matters because it shows where someone seeks recognition and what kind of standing they pursue, in contrast to the private fourth house at the chart's base. For example, a person with the Sun in the tenth house often feels their identity is bound up with their work and reputation, drawn toward leadership or a visible profession, and may measure their sense of self largely by what they accomplish in public.
